DFI Day 4 Dealing with Data

Day 4 of DFI was done remotely due to Covid19 closing down schools and gatherings and sending us all into lockdown! So our new DFI Friday cohort was a Google Hangout with 29 teachers and facilitators gathering digitally from all around the country.
We began our day about 'Dealing with Data' hanging out with Dorothy (wow great alliteration Donna!!) and learnt the importance of the SHARE or TOHATOHA part.
Loved the sentence: Share is the sign that you've finished the learning!
It's also the sign to start the learning.
There was a whole lot of sharing going on today...even a recipe or two!
And especially important when we were all isolated in our own homes, thinking we'd be on our own trying to keep up. The chat and questions were invaluable, so was the small group practice and consolidation of what we had learnt.

Today I learnt how to make and send a Google Form so that I could collect some data.

We learnt how to use Google My Maps and brainstormed how we could use them in our classes.

I used Google Sheets to put some data into a spreadsheet and practised turning that data into a graph or chart.

Then we had a hangout with Robyn Anderson about Creating data from the childrens' blog posts. We practised recording data into a google sheet and making a graph.

Kerry discussed the importance of using Labels on our Blog posts and I have copied and pasted some to use in the future.

Right now I'm heading out onto 90 Mile Beach beach for a walk... there's plenty of distance there, especially a low tide...!!

DFI Day 3

We were at Kaitaia Intermediate's Library today and began the day with a Google Hangout with Ann Sinclair. Today Ann focused on 'Create' and one sentence that resonated with me was that 'Create comes from Big Ideas'
We learnt some Live Streaming Tips from Kent Somerville and now I'm keen to buy a drone...!!

We moved on to YouTube Channels and I discovered I already had one with a couple of music playlists! Have made a couple more playlists of useful videos I will use in my class.

We learnt how to create a Google Drawing, then created a Google Slide Animation.

During our practise time I created another Google Slide to present at a Google Hangout.

DFI Day 2

This morning Paparore School welcomed our DFI cohort 1 to the school with a whakatau.
A huge day of digital learning began with a Google Hangout with Anne Sinclair who talked about Manaiakalani Kaupapa.
We created our own hangouts to discuss some blogs from the Summer Learning Journey. In teams we split up, yet we hung out and recorded one another's summaries of each blog.

DFI Day1 Core Business

Today was the first day of DFI (Digital Fluency Intensive) It was held in Kawakawa at BOI College. We arrived after almost a two hour drive. We have had a full day of digital information with a load of new learning. An attentive group of teachers and principals practiced learn, create, share.

Among other things, I learnt to create a poster in Google Docs, which entailed learning new skills such as:
 choosing a background colour
merging cells
inserting a table
adding text, changing font & size
searching for images without a background using remove.bg
changing the line colour
taking a screen shot
finding the screen shot
inserting it into my Blog

Whew!

Next I will share this poster with my job share buddy!

Boy... I'm going to be so tired tonight! And I'm not even driving...!!
